MERSA Media Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering media literacy, civil dialogue, and social cohesion among Ethiopian youth through innovative projects and events.
The Fashion Show Organizer will be a central figure in the “Social Fabric” event, overseeing the fashion showcase that embodies unity in diversity and creative expression. This role requires expert coordination skills to curate a seamless runway experience. Responsible for every facet of the fashion segment, from model management to backstage execution, this individual will ensure that the fashion show resonates with the event’s essence, portraying a narrative of unity and cultural celebration.
Major duties and responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects involving models and designers, ensuring seamless communication, timely presence, and adherence to schedules for fittings, makeup, and rehearsals.
- Oversee the timely arrival and coordination of garments, verifying the availability of all clothing items and ensuring proper fittings for models before the show.
- Manage the precise sequence of model walks, ensuring a smooth flow and alignment with the planned order, and overseeing backstage activities for efficient transitions.
- Monitor backstage preparations, including makeup and attire finalizations, ensuring that all elements are ready and models are prepared for their appearances.
- Address any last-minute issues such as wardrobe malfunctions, changes in model line-up, or unexpected delays, ensuring quick and effective solutions to maintain the show’s integrity.
- Collaborate closely with event organizers to seamlessly integrate the fashion show within the overall event schedule, contributing to a cohesive and engaging atmosphere.
- Ensure that the fashion show’s execution embodies the event’s vision of unity, cultural representation, and artistic expression, enhancing its narrative and objectives.
Experience and qualifications:
- Proven success in managing fashion shows or high-profile events, ensuring seamless and visually captivating presentations.
- Skilled in overseeing models and designers, managing schedules and fittings for flawless runway showcases.
- Strong organizational skills in handling garment logistics and backstage operations efficiently.
- Quick-thinking and effective in resolving unforeseen challenges during event execution.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for seamless coordination among teams, designers, and organizers.
- Innovative approach in creating engaging runway experiences aligned with event themes.
