Mersa Media Institute (MMI) is seeking a skilled consultant to overhaul our multimedia journalism modules, including multimedia reporting and writing, visual storytelling, and audio journalism and production. Following a highly successful round of training for new entrants into the journalism field, MMI aims to build upon this success by enhancing the teaching experience for the next round in 2024. This role requires a strong background in journalism, curriculum development, and training execution. The selected consultant will be responsible for updating all three modules, each spanning 150 to 200 pages, to align with program objectives and enhance training effectiveness. He/she will play a crucial role in redesigning the modules based on the insights gained from the previous training and feedback received from trainees.

Scope of work

  • Review and analyze the existing training modules developed by MMI, based on the successful round of training conducted for new entrants into journalism.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from trainees to identify areas for improvement and enhancement in the training materials.
  • Collaborate with MMI staff to develop a plan for redesigning the modules, incorporating insights from previous training experience and feedback.
  • Revise and update the training materials to improve clarity, relevance, and effectiveness based on the identified areas for improvement.
  • Develop new content or learning activities as needed to address gaps and enhance the overall learning experience for trainees.
  • Ensure that the redesigned modules align with MMI’s objectives for the next round of journalism training in 2024.
  • Provide regular progress updates to MMI staff and stakeholders, seeking feedback and input as necessary.
  • Make revisions and adjustments to the training materials based on feedback received during the review process.
  • Deliver the finalized redesigned modules to MMI within the agreed-upon timeline.
  • Provide support and guidance to MMI staff during the implementation of the redesigned modules, including training delivery and evaluation.


  • Proficiency in journalism, with expertise in multimedia journalism.
  • Experience in curriculum development and training delivery, preferably within media or journalism fields.
  • Ability to evaluate and enhance existing training materials to improve relevance and effectiveness.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with MMI personnel and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with contemporary practices and trends in multimedia journalism is desirable.
